(Ugh. First day of the month, and I forgot to post this one!)
So here we are in June! I finished only four short stories for the dare last month, but that's okay. I at least wrote them. I hope to get a bit more done this month -- maybe finish off Badlands and look at something a bit newer to work on -- either The Servant Girl or maybe Plague of Rats. Both have sat for a while and are ready for their first, serious rework. Or I could work on Journey to Winter. Or maybe Whispers of Winterwood. Or...
I have plenty to work on. I also want to start the research on a new project. So... June looks good.
Let's hope it stays that way.

Okay, so I messed up on posting yesterday. There it is up above. Nothing important to say anyway!
I'm trying to get into the idea of it being June and about half way through the year again. Writing is going well. I'm already at half a million words. It was easy because a lot of it is rewrite material, but there are several shout stories, articles and -- of course -- Draw the Line which is coming up on 80k all on it's own. A couple of the rewritten and edited novels have even gone out in submission, so you know... not bad.
Let's see if I can keep it up.

Well, okay. I got a lot done today, but I am still behind. That can't be really good. I hoped to get to bed early, but that's plainly not happened. I think I got a good head start on some of the work for tomorrow, though, so maybe that's good.
It's a bit chilly tonight. I'm going to go crawl into bed and get warm!

It's 6 pm and I got the newsletter done and posted, so I can finally get to some writing. I thought I should get this done now since I keep forgetting it for some reason. You would think, after ten years, it would be ingrained on my brain. Sigh.
I have been playing with some graphic stuff over the last couple days -- sort of doing pieces here and there while I'm working on other stuff. Sometimes that helps to make me feel as though I'm having fun when I'm doing a lot of work. Other times, I can't do it because I feel too distracted.
I have gotten very little of my writing done today. That's okay -- I'm about to get to it and it's still pretty early. I think, in fact, that I'll have time to play around with other stuff tonight. That would be fun!
Who knows what I might get done tonight!

It's kind of sad when you half hope for some storms just to make things a bit more interesting tonight. Not bad storms. Just something to change.
Most everything is going fine, though. I have been getting my writing done early. I'm working on notes for a new book. Chinese mythology is full of all kinds of interesting things that I can use for the book. I have found one great link that I can use. And lots of ideas.
I hope to have all of this done and an outline in place by NaNo. Yes, that's months away. I'm not going to rush it. I think the book is going to be all kinds of fun when I get it worked out. Designing the ships is going to be really interesting.

I talked briefly to Russ this afternoon. He hasn't been feeling well, so I was worried about him. He seems to be better, though still not great. I hope he feels good soon.
I have managed a lot of work today. I'm not sure why, but I have. Now I'm doing research for In the Shadow of Giants and really enjoying it.
I have started a Twitter account because, God knows, I am so interesting that people need to know what I'm doing all day, right?
Other than that, can't say that there is a lot going on. I am going back to the research now!

We had a bit of hail tonight. Nothing serious, but it was loud. Surprised me. And we even had a Severe Thunderstorm Warning -- just a brief one because by the time they announced it, the storm was very nearly past.
So that was my excitement for the day.
Writing is going well. Got some DAZ work done today.
That's about it. I'm tired and ready for some sleep, I think. I really do need to come up with something more interesting to talk about soon!

Let's see... getting a few things done today, though it doesn't feel as though I made much progress on anything in particular. Still, better to get a a little bit done here and there. Focus is not going well, though. I'm not sure why tonight.
I think it might be the cold. It's not terrible -- 60f still -- but it feels damp and cold and not like it is nearly summer. I would like it to be a bit warmer. Not hot -- though it will likely get that way before too much longer. But right now... too cold.
Yes, and I'll be complaining about the heat soon. Likely before the end of the month.
I do hope for some somewhat clear days, though. It's looked like it could rain at any moment for a long time now, and it occasionally has. I'd like to feel safe to go out for even a short walk with the camera. And no, I will not go for a walk without it. Walks just to walk are wise, but they don't work for me. Picture taking works for me the way dog walking does for others.
Just you're not going to worry so much about your dog getting wet..

The picture (Visiting Gecko) was done in DAZ Studio, using a special set of shaders that make it look like a drawing. I really like the way it turned out. And it was very easy and relatively quick to do -- especially since there are only four actual items there -- gecko, fish, fishbowl (with sand and such already added) and the stand it is on. Fun to do.
Russ is having computer problems, poor guy. I hope he can get it figured out soon. We're usually on Skype for a few minutes at night. We did talk twice by phone, but that's expensive after a while.
Russ has now had this job for a year and a half. Even though it's been miserable, it has gone pretty fast. I just wish Russ could find a job here. I would like to have his company again.
Soon, I hope. Something has to turn up eventually.

The cats have been crazed tonight. Just really crazed and driving me nuts. But I got work done and now I'm ready to crawl off to bed again. Only I just remembered one more bit of work that I really do have to get done before I can sleep.
So, off I head to do it.
Otherwise, things are going okay. I'm not sleeping great, but that happens now and then with me. Maybe if I work late tonight, I'll sleep better.

I just finally got the newsletter done for the week. There is no good reason why it took me so long. I think I just had lack of focus issues this week. At least it is done and I have a day or so before I really have to work on anything else for DAZ. Which is good, because I need to do the contracts and such for Vision.
Day off? Not in this lifetime, apparently.
There's nothing wrong with being busy. As long as it doesn't interfere with my writing, I don't care most of the time. It's just frustrating on the short run some days.
The writing is going fine, by the way.
So that's my report for the day. On to more work!

I am tired tonight. I was trying to get a lot of sleep last night, but the cats went nuts when it started raining and kept waking me up. Then Russ called. I should have been up by then anyway, though. It's just that I had finally really gotten back to sleep again.
Maybe that means I'll sleep better tonight. That would be a good side-effect to this. And as long as the cats don't go nuts again, I might not have to hang them up by their little tails!
Working on a short story that I started back in April. I don't think it will take long to get it done. But that's about the most exciting thing I have to say tonight! So, time to get this posted and get back to work!

Funny stuff today. I was playing a nature sounds CD and freaked the cats out when it got to the howler monkeys. (grin) I should probably feel badly about that. Instead, I played it a couple more time.
I wish I could say that things were going any better in general. Not horrible, but still... keep hoping for improvement!
Back to work. No more laughing at cats.

I have been cataloguing a few more books over at LibraryThing. It would be nice to get the last of the boxes cleared out and things on the shelves (though you kind of need room to do that part!)
So all is going fine. I hope it will stay that way for a while!

I worked forever on DAZ stuff today. I don't know why it took so long. There are some days when it's just hard to get anything done, and this was one of them.
It's warmed up a bit, at least. And I am managing to keep my writing up. Badlands is easy work, though, so that's not really so hard.
But time to go back to work on other stuff now!

I'm watching the weather tonight. It looks as though everything is going to pass to the west of us, but it's been an interesting set of storms.
I was miserable for a good part of the day, but I'm feeling better tonight. I hope that sticks with me for a few days! I am now officially behind on all kinds of work.
Oh well. I'll get there with it!

The storms last night and this morning were really interesting, but kind of kept me awake a bit too long. I was still up at 7 am, slept for a few hours, then back to work... and not working very well, either.
I'm preparing to go to bed early tonight. it's been way too long of a day!
Still working on DAZ newsletter, but can't really string enough words together in a coherent sentence to make it work. Not a good sign.

It's not even quite 9:30 pm and I'm so tired I can hardly stay awake. Uck. I got the newsletter done. I fought my way through writing. I'm probably going to go crawl off and sleep soon.
I need something to focus on. Something fun. Maybe if I rest for a while, I'll come up with something?

Despite being exhausted last night, I couldn't sleep. It was miserable. I would doze off for a few minutes and then awake again. I was still mostly awake at dawn. Then I slept for a few hours, at least.
I did get some work done today, though, so that's good. and I'm closing in on the end of Badlands. It's going better, at least. I'm still not sure if it works, though. We'll see.
I am working on the research for In the Shadow of Giants, and that's been fun so far. I am starting to get ideas on how the story will go. Should be fun.
But that's about it for me today. Time to get back to work!

I am working at getting things done early tonight. Not for any particular good reason, though. I just want to have things out of the way and maybe just play with graphics or something. I'm tired of working. Though right now I'm downloading work for next week. And I really need to do something on Vision -- like pay contracts. Good plan.
Oh, and send a couple more contracts out. Right. (Puts both those on the list.)
It would be nice to have something fun happen about now. I'm starting to get that 'trapped' feeling again. Gah.
I suppose I might as well get back to work and get a few more things done.

Russ says Zaphod looks like he's saying 'He's not going to eat that pizza, you know. Can I have it?"
We used the Skype video connection and had dinner together, which was kind of fun, really. Kind of an unusual anniversary, that's for sure! Russ sent me a Star Wars e-card. Our first date was to see Star Wars. That was pretty funny!
But that's about it for the day. It was hot today, and it's going to be worse tomorrow. I don't plan on leaving the house for anything -- unless the ac goes out. Then I'll run screaming into the streets.
They are now calling for 102f tomorrow with high humidity, so we're on a heat index alert. Not good.

The day started out with a thunderstorm, which made it a far better day to survive than what they were calling for. The humidity when I got up had been horrible, but the storm blew threw and things cooled down to tolerable for the rest of the day. Yay!
Russ and I had dinner together again. That was fun!
Getting work done in general. Heading back into it now, in fact. I just wanted to make certain I got this done again!

Late, late, late!
I've gotten a LOT done today, though, so I'm pretty happy. Things are looking good here. I'm almost done with Badlands. I got some work done on the FM site. I got a good amount of the newsletter done for DAZ. I had dinner 'with' Russ again. We'll get a chance at that once more this week before he goes back to Long Island. He doesn't have the connection for it there, but he'll be back on the road for a couple days the week after.

I have finished Badlands! Yay!
That's my big news for the day. I also have done over 7k words, so I guess that's something important to mention, too. I'm pretty happy with all of it.
I'm preparing to start on Rat Pirates. That one is going to be a lot harder to rework, but it should be fun.

After a slow start, I finally got a bit over 1k done on Rat Pirates today, so I have the start to the new novel. I have so much else that needs my attention, though. Fm, Vision, DAZ. I'm starting to go a little nuts with it, to be honest.
But I'm getting things done. I just have to keep at it.
And so... off to get more work done tonight before the storms show up. (grin)

I am doing this early today. Not for any good reason. I'm no more interesting now than I would be later.
Zaphod isn't well, but I think he's going to be all right. I have medication for him, so I hope he'll snap out of this pretty fast.
I need to finish my short story over the next couple days. I also need to finish the work on Vision and FM -- and the DAZ newsletter, which is still missing a key piece.
Obviously, I need to get to work!

I'm still a bit worried over Zaphod, though he does appear to be better today. He doesn't like taking medication, but he's pretty good about it. I hope he gets better soon because I worry over him.
The work on Vision is very nearly done. That's amazing for me. I'm usually still fighting with it an hour or so after it should be up. I've also done some work on FM that will go up on the first as well.
So, good work, worry over Zaphod -- but not all bad.

I am just putting the last bits of Vision together. I finished my short story. I have written over 100k this month. And I had Taco Pizza.
All in all, not too bad!
We are going to be without water tonight, though. City is doing some repair work somewhere around here. I'm sure I'll survive it.
Now, back to work on Vision! Yay!
