October 1, 2010

One month until NaNo.

Oddly enough, I'm about ready for it this year.  I have outlines.  I'll stockpile some stuff.  I might even track down my NaNo shirt and poster this time.

What I'm really not ready for is Russ coming home next Friday.  LOL.  I need to get stuff set up for that so I can have time with him without being overrun by work.

Work is not cooperating.

So I am going to go beat it into submission.  I want some of this cleared up!

October 2, 2010

Cooler today.  Frost warning for tonight.  I guess Autumn is really here and winter won't be far behind.  Ugh.  I think I'm going to go Neanderthal this year.  Ugh.  Snarl.  Growl.

I keep telling myself to stop looking at this like a problem.  It's not helping.  But maybe I'll get lucky.  Maybe it will just be a really cold winter rather than a really snowy one.  Would that be better?  No, actually.  I think snowy is the better choice.  Really cold means could be broken water pips and such.  I don't need that kind of problem.

Okay, so not that.  Well, since it's really not my choice anyway, I guess I might as well just sit back and prepare the best I can.  And to think good thoughts since Russ will be home in a few days.

Oh, and get back to work because I have a lot to get done before then!

October 3, 2010

I am trying to get things done.  It's not easy.  Work and work -- but I'm getting there.  Glory is nearly done, in fact.  And I like it.

But it's late tonight and I have other things I should have been doing.  Oh well.  I'll get to them tomorrow.

Russ will be home on Friday.

Yay!

October 4, 2010

So much to do, so little time.

Russ will be home on Friday.  I need to get as much of my DAZ work done as possible, as well as a few other things.  We're doing to had a busy few days with him here -- as usual.

I'm looking forward to it.  Days away from the house.  See things.  Changing leaves, too, which will be very nice.  I'll likely drive Russ nuts with wanting to stop and take pictures all the time.

Today, I'm finishing the edit of Glory.  I still have the outline to finish the month, but that won't be too much trouble.  And there are a few other odds and ends, but not really a lot of them.

Work and work and work.  I best get back to it now.

October 5, 2010

Busy, busy, busy.  Trying to get the newsletter done early, which is kind of impossible since I don't have everything yet.

I did, however, get Glory done and sent off to two people to read for me.  I don't normally do that last part.  And I will upgrade to Office 2010 today, if I get any kind of chance!

So, back to work!

October 6, 2010

Rush.  Rush.  RUSHRUSHRUSHRUSH

Yeah, it's a bit busy here!

Russ will be home in two days.  I'm really trying to get as much of the regular work done as I can!  Get ahead a bit, even -- though that's not going to be easy.

The new Office 2010 is running wonderfully.  Yay!

Other than that, I don't really have much to say.  So . . . get this posted this time and get back to work!

October 7, 2010

Russ will be home tomorrow.  Those weeks went fast!  Too fast in some ways.  There's so much more I should have gotten done before he gets here.  Well, that's not going to happen.  The important stuff is done.

I'm just getting the DAZ Newsletter finished up, more or less.  I did some Vision work already, so that's good.

Making lists, lists, and more lists.  Things that we must get done before he goes back since he might not be around again until after winter.  I don't really want to think about winter, but there it is, just about staring at us.

Okay.  Back to work.  I might be late a few days here and there!

October 8, 2010

Russ is just heading to the airport.  He'll be home in about six to eight hours.

Yay!

Gotten stuff done.  I'm really tempted to just sit back and read for a couple hours now and relax.  A book might help the time go faster and I am in the midst of one of the Dresden Files.

Also fighting a headache, so maybe some rest isn't a bad idea.

I think I have about everything I need done.

(Looks at clock again.)

Yes, maybe reading for a while is a good plan.

October 10, 2010

Went to DeSoto!  Saw a LOT of water.  It's amazing how flooded everything is down there.

It's nice spending some time with Russ.  He's going to be very busy here starting tomorrow, but by the end of the week, we'll have a little time together again.  That'll be fun.

and that's it for me!

October 10, 2010

I am writing this on my new notebook.  We found a lovely little older model for $169 at a local shop and this is about perfect for me – or at least it will be when I get used to the keyboard.  It is meant to help me work away from the main computer.  So, I am sitting here at the dining room table and typing.  Amusing because Russ is back at my main computer in my office.  It's usually the other way around.

Obviously, this is not the fanciest, most up to date computer in the world.  But it will do everything I need it to do.

I need to go get some other programs to put on here now.  Just the basics of what I need.  I am writing on Word, but there are a couple other small things that I need on here for work-related stuff.  I think this is going to work pretty well.  I'm already getting the feel for the keyboard, which is pretty good.  The mouse pad thing might be a little different.  I could end up with a little wireless mouse for this.

So, that's my really big news for the day.  Nice price on this, so I'm very happy!

October 11, 2010

I think I'm going to the zoo tomorrow.  Yay!  That will be fun.  It all depends on how well things work out for Russ.  He's off doing a little movie class right now, and tomorrow is mostly free-- but he has to prepare for the big stuff later in the week.  Last time he was home, he took me down there, dropped me off and then came back and worked -- and drove back down to get me again.  Which was fine from my point of view, but might be a bit more than he wants to do.  That's a lot of hours on the road.

Other than that, it's been very nice.  We got a joint doctor's appointment this morning to get pills renewed, so that's done for a year.  We have an appointment with the vet to get the boys their shots on Thursday, I think.  We've picked up a few of the much needed Winter Supplies.  I don't even like to think about winter coming, but it's not like I can avoid it.

And that's it.  Time to post and get at least a little bit of work done!

October 12, 2010

i went to the zoo!

I took 577 pictures

I walked and walked and walked

thunk.

October 13, 2010

Last night I bought a Nook.

Yeah, this is all odd.  Yes, I am going to be eating a lot of Mac and Cheese for the rest of the year (which I happen to like, so no big deal!)  Right now I'm reading Pride and Prejudice.  I may have read in part when I was much younger, but I don't think I've ever read the entire book.  I missed many of those range.  I'll be making amends for that now.

The truth is, I thought I was going to have to spend at least $400 to get a nice little laptop.  The $169 price tag gave me funds left over to do this or to get a new monitor.  My current monitor is okay.  I can wait on replacing it.  The Nook will allow me to curl up in a nice warm bed this winter and read.  I'm happy about it.

It's been hard to get work done because of it, though.  I am purposely not connecting in and downloading more stuff -- nor going through my personal stuff and get anything on there.

So -- Distractions.  That's really what I'm building up here, you know.  Distractions to see me through the rest of the year.

And right now I need to go do some writing stuff.  Russ will be here for about another week.  Sigh. But we're having fun.

No more crazed buying things, though!

October 14, 2010

Just and odd, busy day around the house. Russ had classes to teach and I had work to get caught up on.  Then we went up to South Dakota to visit his brother and wife and had a great time -- and a great meal.  Then back home. Busy!

October 15, 2010

Russ if off teaching again today and I am now trying to get the last of the newsletter done.

It's been all kinds of odd with Russ here.  And fun, of course.

We've got things going on this weekend, and then he has business stuff next week.  He's teaching right now.  I hope he gets home soon!

I'm getting the newsletter done.

October 16, 2010

Still having fun, even though things have changed somewhat.  The trip to KC got cancelled at the last minute.  I'm still taking the time off from work.

Not a lot going on, though!

October 17, 2010

Only a couple more days and Russ will be gone again. We've done quite a bit, but it's still not long enough.

I've read Pride and Prejudice.  Enjoyable book.  I need to read more of her work.

That's it.

October 18, 2010

This is a bit late because, among things, I took an unexpected overnight trip down to Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge.  We were just heading down to De Soto National Wildlife Refuge and Russ decided we should go on down to Missouri, spend the night at St. Joseph (where he could get a free room) and then come back the next day.

And so we did.  With absolutely not preparation.  We were all the way down to De Soto before we made the decision -- which is kind of funny.  Amusing, too, because I had NOT brought my new laptop, though I did have the Nook.

We drove the rest of the way down, spent about an hour and a half in the refuge before it closed, then went on to St. Joe.  Ate dinner, drove around a little, went to a WalMart and picked up a few things -- and then to the hotel and slept.

The time in the refuge was wonderful.  Great pictures.  And it was all a wonderful adventure!

October 19, 2010

Day two of the adventure!  We got up early and headed into the refuge and spent all morning there.  Some really great pictures!  It was a lovely day again.  Really, we have had incredible nice weather all week.  That NEVER happens.

On the way home, we made a run through De Soto, which had been our original destination.  Incredible amounts of water there still!

All in all, a fun couple days!

October 20, 2010

It's 3 am.  Russ is preparing to leave.  No sleep tonight -- too many last minute things to get done.  He'll be driving down to Omaha in a couple hours.

Sigh.

It's been a fun couple weeks, though.  I hope he gets back home again soon!

October 21, 2010

Russ is now most of the way back to New York.  He emailed from Chicago between flights.  So now it's back to dull and normal.  And back to work on DAZ stuff.  I am a bit behind, of course, but then so are they so I'm not too worried.

The house is a bit of a mess.  We did fine until the last day, and then everything went crazy as we stocked up on stuff and got it in.  And I now have an exercise bike that we found on sale as well.  Very nice.  That cleared out the last of my funds pretty much, but worth it.

That's it for today.  I need to get back to work!

October 22, 2010

I am really tired.

Thunk.

I am getting things done again, though.  That's good.  Lately, I've felt as though I'm falling behind on everything.  Probably because I am.  Ha.

But I am getting a bit of stuff done.  Vision is the next big thing.  Ugh.  Don't want to work that hard!

But it will be the last one of the year.  Should I go quarterly next year?  Maybe. We'll see.

But right now, time to post this bit of 'said nothing at all' journal post and get back to other work!

October 23, 2010

We are having a thunderstorm.  How odd.  I really thought we were past this kind of weather..

I am working on Vision tonight and getting quite a bit more of it done than I expected to.  This is good. Running out of time, you know.  And I have a ton of things to do still before NaNo strikes in about a week.

Ack.

So, off I go to get a bit more work done!

October 24, 2010

We had an odd storm last night.  I really thought I'd seen the last of the thunderstorms.

I am running out of time for Vision -- but there's nothing new in that!  I have gotten a few pieces of it done, though, and if I can keep at it for a couple things a day, I'll be mostly fine.

The problem, really, is just staying focused.  That isn't going so well right now.

Sometimes it's amazing that I get anything done at all.

October 25, 2010

I will not fall behind.  I will not fall behind.  I will not . . . . Where the hell did all this work come from suddenly?

Ugh.

I am working like mad to get caught up, but it's looking worse and worse.  NaNo in a few days.  NaNo is supposed to be the insane part.  I'm looking at it as a break from all this work!  Is that sad or what?

Okay, back to work.  More Vision stuff.  More DAZ stuff.  More FM stuff.  Writing?  A little bit here and there.  Not as much as I would like.

Snarl.

October 26, 2010

I have a backache tonight, which is really annoying.  But I did move a lot of boxes and got things cleaned up here and there in the house.  I also got almost all the work done on Vision.  So that's good.

But it was cold and windy today.  They're calling for a good chance of snow tomorrow.

I really don't want to think about that.

October 27, 2010

Zaphod and I both have colds.  This can't be good, this early in the season.  Maybe part of it is allergy stuff?  There has been a lot of wind and maybe that's kicked stuff up.  I'll believe it's allergies for me.

(Sniff, cough, sneeze)

Ugh.

The weather map shows it is snowing here.  I did think I saw a flake or two, but that's all.  The wind seems to be finally dying down a bit, too, which would be VERY nice.

meanwhile, I have far too much to get done.  Back to work!

October 28, 2010

The winds have finally died down.  That was way too long of a wind storm.  I saw a little snow in the air last night, but that was all.  Hope I don't see more any time soon!

Though we are going into November, so it is inevitable.  I just don't want to think about it.  Maybe I can pretend Winter doesn't exist this year, and just not notice it at all.

That's a good plan, right?

Only a couple things left to do for Vision.  If I can get that out of the way, I will feel a lot better about the end of the month.

So, ya' know, back to work.

October 29, 2010

AAAAIIIIEEEEE

It's almost November.

I'm not ready.

AAAAIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

(Back to work)

October 30, 2010

I am almost caught up on all the end-of-the-month stuff I have to do.  I keep thinking there are more things on the list that I've just managed to forget, but for the moment I'll feel good about being caught up.  It took me hours last night to do it, but I have Vision and FM ready to go.  I did the county's new agendas and I did the last of the edits on the DAZ newsletter.

Today I cleaned my office.  It had been driving me nuts for some time, and I just went in and attacked.  I'm much happier now.  I'll likely work on it a bit again tomorrow, but tonight it feels like a room, instead of a place to drop things into piles.

It will look that way again by the end of November, though.

One day until NaNo.  I think I'm about ready for it.

October 31, 2010

I am now only a few hours from midnight and the start of the NaNo.  I hope to get a couple thousand words in before I go to sleep.  Then tomorrow, I'll write like a crazy person.

Maybe.

It's always hard to tell how NaNo will go. November has been an up and down month for me, so I really don't make any promises.  My plan is to write a novel in November.  I usually end up doing more than one, but who knows?

At any rate, I'm actually more fired up about it then I have been the last couple years.  This came on my suddenly, too.  I think I'm feeling more fired up about it because I am pretty much caught up on my work.

So -- I'm going to get all kinds of things done today and then be ready at midnight.  I might even get this last outline done before then!
