Zette's Days of Writing

Began, October 1, 1998

January 1, 2011

Welcome to 2011.

It doesn't look any different from 2010 from where I am.  Cold, white, too much work to do.  The dog is barking barking barking barking barking across the alley from me.  He'll drive me nuts.

I have started my first novel of the year.  It's going well.  I have an idea of what I want to edit first, too.

But my back hurts and it's cold and I'm really looking forward to spring.

What do you mean I have to wait a few more months?  I want it NOW!

(No one ever listens to me.  Sigh.)

Anyway, happy New Year!

January 2, 2011

Back ache.  But started a short story and over 3300 words on it.  Got DAZ work done and sent off.  Didn't do a lot else, but you know . . . back ache.

It's actually a bit better than it was yesterday.  I'm going to think good thoughts.

Nothing more to say, though!

January 3, 2011

Still back problems, but not as bad.  I've done a little work today, but not I'm going to bed and sleep and hope that tomorrow I feel even better.  I think that's a good idea.

The weather, at least, is not as bad as it has been, though it's colder again tonight.  I will do fine in my nice, warm bed though.  It calls to me.  and tomorrow, my back will be better.

Yeah, I'm fixated on that.  This has gone on long enough.  I need a break from it so that I can think again.

January 4, 2011

Back problems are not as bad as they were.  Still not great, but I can walk now.  I count that as a gain.  Got writing done today, too.  Also good.  Had a story opening hit me, too, which is really very odd for me.

Other than that -- not much going on.  Must go sleep now.

January 5, 2011

Russ is in Portland Maine today, so we got to talk on Skype.  That was nice.  I also got a great deal of work done on Devlin's Team #4, so I guess it was a pretty good day.  Seemed kind of long and dull in most respects, but I guess that's good, right?

The story opening is written, and I'm sort of jabbing at it now and then.  Interesting stuff, really.

But that's about it.

January 6, 2011

I am editing Circe's Gifts and it's proving to be a bit more work than I had expected.  It'll be better for it when I get done, but it came as a surprise that it needed so much work.  Should be interesting to get done, though.

The rest of the writing is going well enough.  I just have to get back to it tonight.  Did some DAZ work today and waiting for some info before I go any farther.  So, I guess that means it's time to write!

A shame about this headache.

January 7, 2011

Newsletter is finally done and sent off for DAZ.  I have some time again.  Not entirely sure what to do with it, though.  Yeah, write.  I'll get to that part soon.  But I think I need to do something else, too.  Maybe some art stuff and play around with things.

It's cold tonight and going to get much colder over the next few days.  But that just puts us closer to spring again, right?  I can go along with that.  I just hope I survive this weather to get there.  The house seems colder this year.  It's likely just the wind, but still -- would like to have things a bit more comfortable here, especially since I can't go anywhere else.  it used to be that we would go for a drive in a nice warm car and I could get pictures and things would be fun.  This is getting kind of old, the fourth year in a row.

Ugh.

I think maybe I'll just go write stuff for awhile and try to think good thoughts.

June 8, 2011

I am having one of those days where I just don't want to do anything at all.  I got some note taking done for In the Shadow of Giants, so that's good.  But other than that, I haven't really done anything.

So I'm going to keep this short, too.  I might even crawl off to bed early tonight.

January 9, 2011

Snow, snow, snow.

Ugh.

Pretty out there, though. That's the best that can be said for it.

I spent all day working on the three Silky books and getting them ready for ebook conversion.  That should happen tomorrow.  And then they go up for sale on the Kindle and Nook sites.  yay!

But beyond that, I didn't get much done.  Daz work, of course.  But that's about it.

I still feel pretty good about it, though.  Best story work day I've had in quite a while.

January 10, 2011

Snow, snow -- snow, snow snow.

Yeah.  We have a lot of snow.

And now we've got cold.  I don't like cold.  My arm hurts from the cold. That puts me in a very bad mood.

But -- I got all three of the Silky books completed today.  Ready, I think, to go up for sale.  Nook and Kindle stuff tomorrow.

Yay!

That is if I decide to leave the nice warm bed!

January 11, 2011

I spent a good amount of today working with the three Silky books and getting them up on the Kindle and Nook sites.  I'm going to have to rework some of the Kindle stuff, but not until they let me have access to it again.  Sigh.

It's very cold here today.  I hope that clears up fast because I don't like the cold much at all.  And I must fight the trashcan out to the street today.  I haven't for the last two weeks.  It's only me and it takes a while to fill up.  But I don't think I can go another week.

If I thought it would be any warmer, or less snowy, I might give it a try.  But I think I'm going to have to go out and do this today.  Ah, but not until after the mail. There's a good excuse not to work more!

So, back to other things!

And to upload this early so I don't forget it.

January 12, 2011

Got things done today.  That's good.  Working on a Runtime database -- bought a version that is working VERY well.  Already a couple thousand items in it.  This is opposed to the one that I was doing of my own that only has about 400 items in it.

Bit of writing, talked to Russ, and generally had a quiet day.  Those are good.  If I could just get my right hand to be not quite so cold, all would be well in the world.

As long as we ignore all that snow, of course.  And the cold.

Russ got snowed into his hotel today.  He's in New Hampshire where they were calling for 12 to 18 inches of snow, I think.  Not sure how much he got.  I guess I can be grateful that things didn't go that bad here!

There was a report that 49 out of 50 states have snow.  Florida does not.  What an odd winter when even Hawaii has snow on the upper reaches of the volcanoes.

January 13, 2011

A new shipment of tea arrived, including a nice big bag of what has turned out to be my favorite -- Wild Strawberry.  I am so looking forward to having a pot of it, but at the moment I have some other I'm drinking.  Soon, though!

There are several other types in this set, including a few new ones to try.  Yay!

The weather is slightly better today. We're up to 18f.  That's put me in a better mood.  I have also gotten a good amount of writing done this afternoon and a post for my blog.

So, all in all, not a bad day despite a growing headache.  I have my tea.  Life is better for it.

January 14, 2011

My back is working it's way up into another big problem, I fear.  I don't know if it's the bed for the exercise bike -- but I'm betting on the bed and not stopping my daily exercise.

Other than that, slow day.  That's okay.  I'm not really in a hurry to get anything done right now.

Okay, all three of the Silky books are now available at both the Nook and the Kindle stores.  This is really good news.  I'll have them al linked to my  main site -- http://lazette.net

That's it for me for today.  I have some marketing stuff to get done now that the books are there!

January 15, 2011

I was not well earlier today and it seems to be coming back tonight.  At least I can go crawl into bed as soon as I want.  I got the two big things done with work today, so I don't have to do anything else.  I have some writing done, too, of course.

Hope my back clears up soon.  It was horrible this morning, but better after I slept.  I think the heated blanket helps.  I'm looking forward to it.

Kind of sad, isn't it?  The most I can look forward to lately is going back to bed!

January 16, 2011

Despite my back problems, I appear to be keeping up on work.  This is good.

But I am also sleeping quite a bit, which seems to help things.  I hope this clears up soon.

January 17, 2011

I am working on many things today.  Getting little bits and pieces of stuff done and generally doing all right, though the back, of course, is still bad.  Sigh.

I am getting things done, though.  Really not a whole lot of choice when it comes down to it.  I did dishes and some clothes (hand washed, hard to stand there), and tried to get the house cleaned up again.  Lucky for me I only live in this room.

Other than that, nothing much to report.  Things are moving on stories, but nothing leap up and down about stuff yet.  Getting outlines worked up, too.  Fun stuff to write later, I hope.

And that's it!  I guess I better get back to work now.

January 18, 2011

Back is a bit better today.  I can walk through the house without much trouble.  it's a little more sore tonight than it was during the day, but still not as bad as it has been.

Other than that?

Snowed today.  Got some of the Newsletter done for this week. Did some work on the Outline for In the Shadow of Giants, and that's going quite nicely.  Need to do some other writing.

So, that's what I'm going to do.  Post this and get back to work on it.

January 19, 2011

Long day.  Lots of writing done, but not much else.  Back is much better today, and I think a lot of that is because I spent a good amount of time in bed.  I intend to keep doing that until it's cleared up.  There's not a whole lot else I have to do anyway.

So that's good, right?

Just relax about things.  Try to stay calm and survive through another long, winter.  That doesn't seem like such a bad thing.  It's already closing in on the end of January.  A couple more months and we'll be past this silly weather.

Okay, that makes me feel better again.

January 20, 2011

It's too cold.  I should mention that and get it out of the way.  I hate this kind of cold.  Supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow, at least!

Second, Adagio Teas started putting sunflower petals in some of their teas.  I'm allergic.  It wasn't listed on their site and I was quite shocked when my throat suddenly started closing down.  I keep Benadryl with me at all times, though, and that did the trick since I'd only had a little of the tea.

A letter to them today has relieved me of the fear I'd have to stop buying their teas.  They're already changing from sunflower to marigold.  I don't think I'm allergic to that!  LOL

I have been working, working, working all day.  My hand is bright red because it's so cold.  Looking forward to spring.  Wish it would last longer.

And now I'm heading back to work!

January 21, 2011

Cold.  Cold.  Did I mention cold?

Back is a little better, but I'm going to have to go out into the COLD and shovel snow tomorrow, I fear.  Not looking forward to that, mostly because it's COLD.

But I have gotten some good writing done today.  And worked a bit with art, which I haven't done lately. So that's all pretty good, really.

And worked with other things today.  I could actually sit and work for quite a while.  That's good.

Of course, after I shovel snow that won't be so good.

But we'll see.  Right now, though, I'm preparing to go crawl into a warm bed!

January 22, 2011

I shoveled snow.

And then it snowed all day.

Sigh.

Really, nothing more to say after that.

January 23, 2011

All three Silky books have been released in Nook and Kindle versions and are listed on my site (with previews) http://bit.ly/eRH2ZL

And I found out that What if! From Abner Press is out and available from Amazon.com http://amzn.to/eeVKSJ Nice review, too.

So that's what I've been working on for most of the day.  It was actually fun.  But it's cold here.

And no, I haven't gone out and shoveled more snow.

Tomorrow, maybe.

January 24, 2011

Nicer weather today.  I scooped snow, made myself almost ill doing it, but got it done and feel better for that.  Of course, it's supposed to snow for the next few days.  But still.

I got a short story ready for publication today, too.  Just finishing up the artwork for it.  So, that's good.

All in all, not bad.

January 25, 2011

I'm having a hard time with the idea that it's already nearly the end of the month.  I have things I should get done.  Oh well.  I've actually done pretty well.  Three novels up for sale at Nook and Kindle sites, plus a short story, and another short story nearly done.  Can't get better than that!

The weather hasn't been horrible, either.  So that's good.

Mostly, though, it's not been a great month.  I guess I should be happy that I'm surviving.

January 26, 2011

I was miserably ill last night and a good part of today.  Yuck.  But I got things done and I'm moving towards getting two short stories ready to go up for sale.  Yeah, I know.  Silly -- but why not?  I'm enjoying it.

And I really got into the rewrite, edit part tonight.  That was really enjoyable.

But, other than that, not much going on at all.

January 27, 2011

It's late.  I'm running behind tonight and I'm really, really tired now.  So this will be short.  Well, it would be short anyway because there is nothing new to say.  I really didn't do much today at all except to write and edit and finish the newsletter.

Is there more in life than that?  Couldn't prove it by me lately!

Ack.  end of the month already.  Maybe I need to work more?

January 28, 2011

The weather is far better than I could hope for.  Which means it will not last, but I like it while it's here.  I've been getting things done, in fact.  And able to clean up the house a bit, too.  When it's too cold, I don't want to leave the office.

I am still shocked at how close to the end of the month it is already.  I have done alright, but I don't have everything I wanted done.  Need to get a bit more, but I think it's fine.

I also need to focus back on the outline for In the Shadow of Giants if I want to write that book in March.

So, back to work!

January 29, 2011

Got stuff done.  Always a good thing.  Fought of much of a headache, also a good thing.  Got more stuff done.

I am editing tonight. That's good, too.  There are a couple things I want done  soon.

I would love to see winter ends soon, too, but it's going to get really cold next week.  I'll be in a bad mood.  I hate this weather.  Snarl.

Oh and a winter snow storm coming in, too.

Snarl some more.

Back to work!

January 30, 2011

Russ and I have spent the evening on Skype, both of us working away.  It's nice.  It's like having someone there with me.

It's cold.  and the weather is going to turn worse over the next couple days.  But closer to spring, right?

That's really about all I have to say today.  Got work done.  Getting more done.  What more is there?

January 31, 2011

We are having a snow storm, but then so is almost everyone else in the US.  None of us are happy about it, either.  I would really like spring to come now, if that's not asking too much.

Okay, maybe it is.

I am in an editing mode here lately, which is alright.  Editing is important.  I need to work on the outline for the story I'll start in March, too.

But here it is, end of January. One month down for 2011.

I'm already behind.
