New Toy
October 1, 2011
Russ is spending some time with friends today. I kind of hope he comes home soon and we can spend a good amount of tomorrow together. He'll be gone again on Monday. Sigh.
But . . . . Today is the 13th anniversary of starting this journal. It's gone through a lot of changes, and while some days have been posted late, I didn't miss any of them. I would like to find the files to the earlier journals because those would have my first sales, my first year at NaNo, etc. Kind of interesting to realize how much time has passed and how many changes there have been.
In other news, today we bought a nice little Netbook for me. I've already been writing on it in the bedroom and stuff. Very nice and though it will take some times to get used to the keyboard, it is a handy little beast.
This really means I won't have to sit anywhere cold this winter. I can pick up the new toy and move to the warm bed and work if I want. Sounds good for this winter!
But that is all the news for today.

Russ left early this morning. We have some serious problems left behind, so he's hoping to get back soon. I don't think I dare count on it, which means I need to start looking at some alternative answers.
Ugh.
But we had a good time together. I hope the next time he'll have less going on and we can spend more time with each other.

I just cannot get back into the pattern of work. NaNo is coming, and I need to do my outlines. Also need to get some massive newsletters done -- anniversary month for it -- and just in general figure out the last part of the year.
Right.
Zaphod is ill. I think he's coming down with a cold and I'm hoping to get it stopped before it hits vet-visit time. Buffy has spent her first full night out with the boys and there was no problem at all.
Just need to figure out my life.

Zaphod is still ill, but I'm hoping he'll feel better soon. And I have been having back problems for the last few days. That's just so much help.
I am still not really getting back into the pattern of things. I think I'm fighting it, to be honest. I don't want to just go back to work, even stuff like writing which I love. Bad attitude to have right now. Must get out of it!
Worked a bit on different outlines tonight. Still couldn't get moving on them. Eek!

Yes, I have completely screwed up posting the last few days. That's how completely not-tracking I've been lately. Ack.
I am doing this early. I am preparing to post this right now so I don't write it and shove it aside until later, pretending that something more is going to happen today. Not going to happen, guys. This is it. Zaphod is still congested, but he's up and moving. We are supposed to get a big wind storm tomorrow and Friday.
That's it. Back to work on the newsletter!

Worked all day on newsletter while I fought off major headache that eased for a while and is coming back again. There is like some serious annoyance with that one. Not put me in the best of moods, now that I have time to actually do something I want to do.
Zaphod was ill yesterday and this morning, but he seems to be better tonight. If not, off to the vet tomorrow.
Edmond and Buffy are chasing each other through the house.
And that's my life for the day!

Running out of time! ACK! I cannot get the outlines done. They are fighting me. Life is fighting me. Cats are fighting me.
Snarl.
I think I'm going to have to 'rethink' NaNo. I have two finished outlines that I can do. Put Water/Stone/Light into 2012. Get the Bunny Hopper outline done.
I like this plan. Less stress.
And sleep. Sleep would be good, too.

This is something Russ told me today on
Skype. I thought I would share!
Russ: I had a funny dream this morning. We were spies, and
infiltrating somewhere. They had electric eyes set up, and we were
getting trapped. You said, no problem, and brought up a box, and
reached in. You pulled out Buffy, and she took off, scurrying
around, detecting the lights, and pushing things in front of them to
block them off!
Zette: LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Russ: But then it looked like she was about to get trapped, and I
was worried for her, and you said, 'Really, not a problem!'
Russ: You reached back into the box and brought out another Buffy to
help her!
Zette: Oh no, no, no! One is enough!
Russ: And another!
Russ: and another!
Russ: and another!
Zette: ACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Russ: And another!
Russ: Six, total! Illya (Ducky from NCIS) had cloned her as a secret
weapon!!
Zette: Now that is funny!
Russ: I was reeling! SIX BUFFYS????? And then they all came back
together, looking up at us, saying 'Meow!'
Russ: And you put them back in the box, and on we went!
Three months old
October 9, 2011
This is Buffy's two-month-in-the-house day. She's finally calming down a bit. I don't know if the boys are any more used to her though.
I am working, working, working. And very tired. But I'm getting things done, at least. My latest plans for NaNo should be good, too. However, I have three more newsletters for this month.
Everything is odd this month. I wish my life would just settle back and Russ would return. You can't ask for more than that, right?
We'll have to see what happens.

October 10, 2011
I had messed up the coding on this journal yesterday and I just didn't have the patience to fix it late last night. It's fine now and I'll post both things.
Not that there's anything new going on today.
I need to get focused on a few things. On many things, really. Newsletter stuff, of course, is top of the list. But I am also in need of writing stuff. Yesterday was dismal for it for many reasons.
Today is not going much better. I need to be able to step back and figure this out. My attitude is not good right now.
Ugh.
time for a break from stuff, maybe.

The cold from hell is going to kill me. Just so you know.
I have been writing posts. I just haven't been getting them up. I swear there is like a little turn off switch I keep hitting. Write post -- okay, done! Maybe I need to switch to a Joomla type board so that there really isn't another step to getting this stuff up. That's a thought.
Working on the newsletter tonight. It's annoying me, but really not going too badly over all.
And I am getting this done right now so I can post it and know that I actually have it done. Now. Not tomorrow or the next day.
Do you realize how close we are to November? To the dreaded NaNoWriMo stuff? I still have to finish outlines!
So, off to work I go!

Food delivery day, which is good since I was getting a bit low. I am working on the Bunny Hopper outline which is good since I'm also running out of time. This is going to be such a strange NaNo.
Hope it doesn't get too cold too soon. I'm having heating issues.
Need to get back to work, really. Ack.
Buffy awake
October 13, 2011
Part of the ceiling in the library fell today. No reason except that the house seems to hate me and wants to drive me nuts. It's a suspended ceiling below the older one, so it's not like it is really open. However, it is an annoyance and I'm worried about the rest falling.
My life has gone too weird.
I need a break. Or a new life.

October 14, 2011
This month is going too quickly. Way too quickly. I've got to get more outline done, and it's just moving so slowly! I am having trouble focusing on the work with some other worries hanging over me.
And I keep thinking about winter coming, which is not improving my mood at all.
Ack. I have to get something worked out here.
Buffy
October 15, 2011
My how fast the days are going. And my, how unprepared I am for NaNo this year. That just doesn't sound good.
Even more trouble though. I have several unfinished projects that, by my rules, I need done by January 1. With November taken by NaNo, that pretty much leaves me about six weeks. Ooops.
Time to get to work on stuff!
Funny Birds
October 16, 2011
I got some work done on the Devlin novel still hanging out there unfinished. It's the longest piece, so if I can get it out of the way, I have a chance for the other two. That's ignoring the NaNo outlines, of course.
Oh, I'll get there. I always do, but I don't think it will be pretty.
It's also getting cold. I have one room heater for the entire house. This just doesn't look good.
Pretty bird
October 17, 2011
My brain is rebelling against me. Really. It's like it refuses to focus on writing at all now. This can't be good.
I think it's the dread of winter coming. I hate feeling that way. Ugh.
I wish I could say I have something fun to talk about, but aside from the Bunny Hopper story (which is going okay in outline), there's not much really going on. Feeding birds. Feeding cats. Writing outlines and doing the DAZ newsletter. Not much of a life, really.
But not bad, all in all. Just a bit worrisome about winter. Dropping down to 28f tomorrow night. Eeek.
Buffy
October 18, 2011
I will get this posted on time, I will get this posted on time.
Not much going on here, really. Getting things done. Cold. Getting more things done. Annoyed at the cold.
But we're doing okay. I think I'm going to have Devlin 1 done in the next few days if I keep moving like this. I need to get back to the Bunny Hopper outline, of course. Just finish it off and put it aside. get stuff done. Running out of time.
I will not panic.
But I will get back to work. And I will post this on the day that it is supposed to go up. What a nice change!
New Story up
October 19, 2011
I have a new story up on the Smashwords site:
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/97870
And that certainly took more time to do than it should have. But I got it done and I'm glad. I feel like I accomplished something there.
I still haven't finished the Bunny Hopper outline, but I'll get there.
Really, I'm starting to get happy about the NaNo stuff coming up. part of that is having figured out a bit of heat today, so I'm not totally freezing. I hate cold. I can't work when I'm cold.
So far, things are looking good, though!
Buffy
October 20, 2011
It's another COLD night. I need to get this up and get the last of the newsletter stuff done and try to crawl into a warm bed. After I make the bed, since I have the electric blanket out here with me tonight.
This is going to be such a long winter.
But I'm getting stuff done. Outline is closer to finished. So is Devlin 1. If I can get both done before the end of the month, I'll be very happy. I kind of suspect one of them won't make it that far, though!

October 21, 2011
I am almost done with the Bunny Hopper outline. It seemed as though it was going to take me a lot longer, but that was just because I couldn't see the end. Just glimpse a final scene, but not really a lot of stuff leading to it.
Now I see how to get from here to there. So the outline will be done Yay!
Other than that, not a lot today. It was a warmer day, I'm glad to say. Might rain tomorrow though, which doesn't trill me. Still, as long as there is none of that white stuff in the forecast, I'll be happy for now.
So, back to work on it now before it gets later. I expect to be done tonight or tomorrow. Yay!

October 22, 2011
The new heater arrived today. It's wonderful! We are all quite happy with it!
And I finished the Bunny Hopper outline. I'll be nudging it here and there over the next few days, but it is DONE! Yay! And it came in at a high enough count of entries that I shouldn't have any trouble getting a 60k novel out of it.
I am happy. I am also tired. Off to bed!
Not the camera!
October 23, 2011
Outlines are done and ready to print off. Other things are in place. My heater is wonderful. The cats approve. We are all nice and warm tonight
I hope to get most, if not all, of Devlin 1 rewritten this week. That's my huge goal. I think I can do it provided I don't have a lot of other things going on. Just focus on it and get it done. Sounds good to me!
Back to work, back to work.
A little Rain
October 24, 2011
I am dreading the changing of weather. I really am. I probably shouldn't worry about it so much, but if we have a bad and very cold winter, I don't know what I'm going to do.
I'm trying ot think positive thoughts. The new heater is great. I think an electric blanket to cover up with here at the desk and all will be well. But still, I'm worried, and more so than I have been any of the previous winters.
Maybe I'll get lucky and this one won't amount to much.
Right?
Hibernation
October 25, 2011
Buffy is a bit of a problem. She's still wild some days and she's started to drive the cats nuts. I'm also dealing with the 'no biting' problem she has. I've never had a cat with this problem, but I am glad to say she's finally getting the idea.
I am working, working, working -- trying to get things caught up before NaNo and get my outlines done. I'm really doing well on the outlines, at least. The rest of it -- that's going to be a problem.
I am going to have fun, though.
Resting
October 26, 2011
I have two outlines done and printed out. I have food in the freezer, and I have just about everything done that needs done before November 1.
I don't trust it.
I keep getting the feeling this is the year I won't do all that well. I think it's attitude. I'm excited about it one moment and the next I'm annoyed about everything. So we'll have to see how it goes, I guess. The best I can do is just be ready.
I am getting the outside stuff nearly done, too. The newsletter will be the hardest, of course. A couple other things, too. But I'll get there.
Devlin 1 is actually moving and almost done. Amazing what the pressure of running out of time will do for a person.

Can I get any farther behind on stuff before NaNo?
No, I really don't think I can. This is not going well.
Oh, not that badly. I'm just not in a good mood tonight.
On the other hand, the temp has dropped to 37f with a wind chill below freezing and I'm not cold. I have water boiling and the heater on and we're doing fine. It's not bad at all right now, and that helps. Still not looking forward to winter, but this at least gives me hope.

October 28, 2011
I have a cold.
This is not surprising. Not because of the weather or because of things like no furnace. It's not a surprise because we are a few days from NaNo. What fun would NaNo be without something like this?
I don't know, but I'd like to find out.
I am fighting to get things done. I hope to win.
Buffy
October 29, 2011
I like the new heater. Very nice, really. I can get by with a blanket here at the desk most nights. Water on the stove and the house is pretty bearable at the moment. Of course, it's not really winter yet.
But still, I am having good thoughts. And sneezes.
Overall, though, I think things are good.
Buffy
October 30, 2011
I have my outlines done and printed off.
I finished the rewrite of Devlin 1.
I edited a short story to put up on Smashwords.
I am working on the Forward Motion website and I'll get the DAZ newsletter done today.
I think I am really about ready for NaNo and I still have a day to go. A shame about the sneezing, but I'll survive it.

November 31, 2011
Yeah, yeah, yeah -- post if you are going to bother to write this stuff up. Right.
I am a few hours from NaNo. I should have been getting stuff done today. It isn't happening. There are a couple things I must get done and then I'm finished until midnight when NaNo starts. I'll write some before I got to bed. I don't know how much.
But that's about it. Time to work on stuff and get those things out of the way. At least I have my outlines ready!
